Has My Pet Got Fleas?  In Hong Kong, the answer is Probably!  Everybody's pet gets them at some time in their lives; it's a fact of life and has nothing to do with having a dirty flat or being unhygienic.  Look for small insects (1-2mm long) especially around the base of the tail. Often you can see black specks of flea dirt in the coat.  These specks will leave a brown or reddish stain if squeezed on wet tissue.
